AI, Data & Privacy

Mixed - some data on-device, some in cloud

This robot uses a hybrid approach where some data is processed locally on the device and some is sent to cloud servers. The level of EU data protection depends on what data stays local versus what is transmitted. Sensitive data like camera feeds may be processed on-device while usage analytics go to the cloud. Review the manufacturer's privacy policy for specifics on what data goes where.

How to keep it private

Needs internet
Offline

The LUBA 2 requires the Mammotion app for initial boundary setup and map creation via RTK positioning. After setup, scheduled mowing tasks can run autonomously. Bluetooth provides local control within range. Wi-Fi or 4G cellular is needed for remote monitoring, firmware updates, and voice commands.

Available privacy controls

Bluetooth-only control

Can be controlled via Bluetooth within range without requiring internet connectivity for basic operations

User access control

Main user activates the device and can grant or revoke family member access

Anti-theft with GPS

GPS tracking and anti-theft alarm can be managed through the app

Privacy tip

After initial RTK boundary setup, use Bluetooth-only control within range to minimize cloud data transmission. The LUBA 2 has limited privacy controls compared to indoor robots since it has no cameras or microphones for surveillance. The main privacy concern is GPS location data sent via 4G. If you do not need remote monitoring, consider blocking the 4G cellular connection after setup.
